Sparks - Ignite Your Purpose

One Ummah Project

IGNITE
YOUR
PURPOSE.

A program for Muslim teens — building faith, leadership, and college & career readiness.

Hassan Faye IMAN ATLANTA

What is Sparks?

Sparks is a selective, year-long program for Muslim high school students. It was built to fill a real gap — a place that takes teenagers seriously, meets them where they actually are, and prepares them for everything that comes next.

This is not a Sunday school. This is not a lecture series. This is a cohort — a tight group of young Muslims building faith, sharpening skills, and growing together over the course of a full year.

Who It's For

Sparks is designed for Muslim high school students — primarily 10th and 11th graders — who are ready to invest in themselves. The right student for Sparks is someone who:

nightlight

Wants to strengthen their faith and understand Islam in a way that actually applies to their life.

school

Is thinking about college and wants real guidance — not just from Google.

groups

Has leadership potential and wants somewhere to develop it.

lightbulb

Is looking for community with other Muslim teens who take their deen seriously.

THE 5 PILLARS

Everything in Sparks is organized around five pillars.

Each one is designed to work together — not as separate classes, but as a single, connected experience.

01

FAITH, IDENTITY & PURPOSE

02

COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS

03

LEADERSHIP, SKILLS & REAL-WORLD IMPACT

04

BROTHERHOOD/SISTERHOOD, CULTURE & COHORT

05

PARENT ENGAGEMENT

01

FAITH, IDENTITY
& PURPOSE

Islam connected to real life — not just theory. This pillar is built specifically for teenagers navigating faith in Western environments, dealing with doubt, peer pressure, and the question of who they are.

Students will explore:

  • flare

Qur'an in Real Life — the Qur'an as a guide for modern challenges.

  • flare

Faith Under Pressure — navigating doubt, identity, and cultural tension.

  • flare

The Sahabah in You — lessons from the Prophet and the Sahaba applied to today.

  • flare

Purpose & Path — discovering personal direction and goals.

02

COLLEGE &
CAREER READINESS

Students get real, structured support for life after high school — not vague advice, but actual tools and real people.

  • flare

SAT/ACT preparation and college application strategy

  • flare

Essay writing, resume building, and interview prep

  • flare

Financial literacy basics — scholarships, aid, smart decisions

  • flare

Mentorship from Muslim college students at universities across the country

  • flare

Guest sessions with professionals in medicine, business, tech, nonprofit, and more

  • flare

Internship support and shadowing opportunities through partner organizations

03

LEADERSHIP, SKILLS
& REAL-WORLD IMPACT

This isn't a leadership class — it's a leadership lab. Students learn, apply, reflect, and grow through real projects and community work, all grounded in Islamic ethics.

Students will explore:

  • flare

Core leadership frameworks and communication skills

  • flare

Value-based decision making and Islamic ethics in action

  • flare

Community organizing, advocacy, and civic engagement

  • flare

Real projects and service initiatives — not just workshops

04

BROTHERHOOD/
SISTERHOOD,
CULTURE & COHORT

This is what makes Sparks different from anything else. Students aren't just attending a program — they're part of a cohort with its own identity, culture, and shared story.

  • flare

A tight-knit group across partner masjids

  • flare

Monthly offsites — service projects, outdoor experiences, and social events

  • flare

Retreats and milestone moments throughout the year

  • flare

Shared rituals, traditions, and earned recognition

05

PARENT
ENGAGEMENT

Parents are partners in this program, not bystanders. Sparks keeps families informed and involved throughout the year.

  • flare

Parent orientation at the start of the program

  • flare

Mid-semester progress updates covering faith, leadership, college readiness, and cohort engagement

  • flare

    End-of-year review

  • flare

Optional parent workshops on relevant topics
